Sun TV Network, South India’s largest television broadcaster, on Friday entered the micro-drama space with the launch of Sun NXT Shorts, targeting mobile-native Gen-Z and television users. The short-form video offering will be available as an integrated feature within the existing Sun NXT OTT application.

The launch marks Sun NXT’s entry into the fast-growing micro-entertainment segment, as audiences increasingly consume content in shorter formats across digital screens. Sun NXT Shorts will offer exclusive original series, international dubbed shorts, blockbuster movies and popular Sun TV serials from the platform’s library, remastered, resized and re-edited into fast-paced episodes across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

“Audiences aren’t just consuming more content — they’re consuming it differently, across more screens, in shorter bursts, with far less patience for friction. Sun NXT Shorts is a deliberate strategic bet on that shift,” Kaviya Maran, Executive Director, Sun TV Network, said.

Sun NXT Shorts will leverage the more than 65,000 hours of multi-lingual content already available on the Sun NXT platform.

The launch comes a month after KadhaiShorts, a multilingual micro-drama platform, was launched by Karan Dayanidhi Maran, son of former Union minister Dayanidhi Maran. The launch marked the Maran Group’s entry into the entertainment business.
