Ola Electric has opened its in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell and battery pack platform to third parties, spanning households to enterprises across energy, healthcare, defence and robotics.
“We are now opening this platform up. Not just to large enterprises, but also to startups, innovators, and builders who want to create advanced products on a strong and reliable energy foundation,” Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said in a blog post on X.
Businesses and startups can now directly purchase the 4680 Bharat Cells, or the 1.5 kWh 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack, for applications across automotive, humanoids, drones, portable medical equipment and other industrial use cases, the company said.
Gigafactory Production Goals
The move, according to the company, is aimed at accelerating domestic battery adoption and reducing dependence on imports across multiple sectors. The 4680 Bharat Cells are indigenously developed and manufactured at the company’s Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, with a targeted production capacity of 5 GWh by FY2026.
On Wednesday, the company also said its residential battery energy storage systems (BESS) products under ‘Ola Shakti’ is now available for purchase, with deliveries for the 6 kW/9.1 kWh variant starting end-January 2026, and the 3 kW/5.2 kWh variant starting mid-February 2026.
The Ola Shakti 3 kW/5.2 kWh is priced at ₹1,49,999, while the 6 kW/9.1 kWh variant is priced at ₹2,49,999.
The system can power air conditioners, refrigerators, induction cookers, farm pumps and communication equipment, with fast charging and backup capacity of up to 1.5 hours at full load. The product is available for purchase on the Ola Electric website and at Ola Electric stores, according to the company.
Business Diversification Efforts
The third party sale of battery cells comes at a time when Ola Electric is looking to diversify beyond its slowing two-wheeler EV business amid due to reduced government subsidies, rising competition from legacy OEMs and customer complaints related to after-sales service.
In October 2025, Ola announced the launch of “Ola Shakti,” entering the residential BESS space. Ola Electric also plans to enter the commercial battery energy storage market. It expects the BESS business to generate ₹100 crore in revenue in Q4FY26 and ₹1,000–1,200 crore in FY27, with gross margins of 40–50%.
Ola Electric has also cut its consolidated revenue guidance for FY26 to ₹3,000–3,200 crore from ₹4,200–4,700 crore earlier, citing a weaker outlook for two-wheeler sales.
Shares of Ola Electric closed flat at ₹38.73 on the NSE.
