Sachin Bansal-led financial services company Navi Limited announced an investment of $100 million at $1.3 billion valuation by MIH Payments Holdings BV, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of the Dutch investment group Prosus, marking Navi’s first institutional capital raise. Navi has also approached investment banks to revive its listing plans with an IPO of $315 million (around Rs 3,000 crore), as reported by Bloomberg.
Competition Commission of India (CCI) observed that the proposed transaction does not raise any adverse effect on the competition in any market while noting the overlap between Navi and Prosus’s business in lending and payment aggregation services among others.
In a press release, Prosus shared that the proposed investment aligns with its long-standing thesis in backing leading technology platforms in India and its confidence in Navi’s business, execution capabilities and a long-term ambition. It added that the investment also builds on a long-standing relationship between Sachin Bansal and Naspers (founding company of Prosus) and the Prosus group spanning more than a decade.
While commenting on the development, Sachin Bansal, founder & executive Chairman, Navi Group said, “Prosus is one of the world’s most respected investors, with an exceptional track record of backing category-defining technology companies over the long term. Their investment is a strong endorsement of the institution we’re building at Navi. Beyond the capital, we value Prosus’s global perspective, long-term orientation and experience in scaling technology businesses, and look forward to partnering with them as we continue our growth journey.”
Ashutosh Sharma, head, Prosus India Investments and M&A said, “We are excited about our partnership with Navi. We believe the team has executed extremely well in the last 12 months despite a tough macro environment which makes the company well-positioned to capture significant opportunities in the sector in times to come. In Sachin, we see a founder who shares our philosophy of patient company-building, building better products, and creating meaningful long-term value at scale. We look forward to supporting Sachin and Navi’s long-term growth following completion of the transaction, subject to the required regulatory approvals.”
As of FY26, Navi is the country’s fourth largest UPI app and manages aggregate assets under management across loans, insurance and mutual funds of Rs 13,000 crore.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and applicable regulatory approvals, including approval from CCI.
