The price of commercial LPG gas cylinders was raised by Rs 49 on Sunday — ahead of the Budget 2026 announcement by Nirmala Sitharaman. The change is effective from February 1 and likely to raise operating costs for restaurants and small businesses across the country. There has been no change announced for domestic LPG cylinder prices in 2026.

This is the second hike announced since the year began and adds up to a cumulative increase of Rs 160 since January 1. The government had previously raised the cost of commercial cylinders by Rs 111 at the beginning of the new year. The updated rates were shared via the Indian Oil Corporation website on Sunday morning — indicating that prices had been raised overnight for 19-kg cylinders.

What are the changed prices?

The retail sale price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been updated to Rs 1740.50 in Delhi from today. There is no change in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders weighing 14.2 kilograms. According to IOCL, the price has been revised to Rs 1844.50 for Kolkata while Mumbai now stands at Rs 1692. Prices in Chennai are the steepest among the four metros — standing at Rs 1899.50 after the price hike.

All cities have seen an overall hike of Rs 160 since the year began 32 days ago.

Commercial LPG cylinder prices had remained largely unaltered during the second half of 2025 — with minimal monthly fluctuations. The rates are presently at their highest since June 2025.

Some relief for household consumers

There is relief for household consumers as there has been no change in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders. The rates of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder remain unchanged — providing stability in cooking gas prices for families.

The revision in commercial LPG prices is significant for sectors that rely heavily on such cylinders, including eateries, catering services and small businesses, as fuel forms a major component of their operating costs. The unchanged domestic LPG prices, meanwhile, ensure that household budgets are not impacted by the latest revision.
