LPG cylinder booking: The Centre on Friday urged citizens not to indulge in panic buying of cooking gas or fuel, stressing that supplies across the country remain adequate despite concerns linked to developments in West Asia. In a press briefing today, senior government officials said the government is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with multiple ministries to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential energy supplies.
Platforms to Book LPG Cylinders
Officials emphasised that consumers do not need to visit LPG distribution agencies and can easily book cylinders through multiple digital channels from home.
“LPG cylinders can be booked easily through multiple digital platforms, including:
IVRS calls
SMS booking
WhatsApp booking
Mobile applications of the OMCs”
Authorities advised consumers to continue using these platforms as they normally do instead of crowding distribution centres.
“Consumers are therefore advised to book cylinders from the comfort of their homes, as they normally do, and avoid visiting agencies unnecessarily, which can create avoidable crowding.”
They also urged people to avoid booking cylinders beyond their usual requirement.
“We also request consumers to book LPG cylinders only as per their normal household requirement and avoid panic booking. Sufficient LPG supplies are available in the system, and OMCs maintain adequate stocks across bottling plants and depots.”
Govt Urges Public to Avoid Panic Buying
The advisory came during the third inter-ministerial media briefing held at the National Media Centre in New Delhi to review the evolving situation in West Asia and its possible impact on energy supplies.
During the briefing, officials reiterated that there is no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders and asked consumers to avoid panic buying or unnecessary visits to distribution agencies.
“Government advises public not to resort to panic buying, as adequate stocks of petrol and diesel are available.”
Officials added that authorities are also taking action on the ground to prevent hoarding and black marketing of cylinders.

Authorities also appealed to media organisations to rely on official information and help prevent rumours that could trigger unnecessary panic.
“We request the media to help disseminate correct information and rely on official sources, so that unnecessary panic can be avoided.”
