Tata Motors started 2026 on a strong note with domestic passenger vehicle sales rising to 70,222 units in January, a 46.1% increase year-on-year over the same month last year. Sales were also sharply higher than the 50,046 units reported in December 2025.
The strong showing was driven by the Nexon and the recently refreshed Punch. Nexon sales crossed 23,000 units during the month, taking its cumulative sales past the one-million milestone, while Punch volumes exceeded 19,000 units. The model also crossed 700,000 cumulative sales, including nearly 200,000 units sold in 2025 alone.
Mahindra & Mahindra reported domestic sales of 63,510 units, marking a 25% year-on-year increase compared with 50,659 units in January 2025 and higher than the 50,946 units sold in December.
