Airbus Model Conversion

In another development, Air India finalized a deal with Airbus to convert 15 of its previously ordered A321 Neo planes into the A321 XLR model. The XLR aircraft, capable of longer non-stop flights, are expected to support Air India’s international route expansion.

The agreements were signed in the presence of Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson, along with senior representatives from Boeing and Airbus.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), also included industry collaborations and domestic manufacturing announcements.

Local Manufacturing MOUs

The Sakti Group and Omni Pole signed an MoU to bring the L410 NG 19-seater aircraft to India, with potential local assembly under consideration.

In a separate agreement, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) signed a contract with Pawan Hans for the supply of 10 Dhruv Next Generation helicopters

Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar said the event reflected efforts to create a stable policy environment and promote private sector participation in India’s aviation industry.

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu presided over the session, which focused on partnerships aimed at advancing the country’s aviation capabilities.
