In one of the largest primary private equity investments in the Indian hospital sector, global private equity investor Advent International is investing Rs 3,150 crore in listed hospital chain Yatharth Hospital & Trauma Care Services for a 24.9% stake. The transaction, which remains subject to customary closing conditions, will make Advent a significant minority shareholder. The promoter Tyagi family will continue to be the largest shareholder and retain control of the company’s long-term strategy.
The investment comes as Yatharth expands its hospital network through organic expansion and acquisitions. Currently, the company operates nine multi-speciality hospitals with around 2,800 beds and has an announced capacity of about 3,250 beds.
Shares of Yatharth Hospitals ended the day with over 9% jump to a record high of Rs 1,072.4 on the NSE post the announcement.
In a statement on Thursday, the company’s whole-time director Yatharth Tyagi said the investment would provide capital as well as Advent’s healthcare expertise and global insights to accelerate the company’s next phase of growth. “Together, we aim to expand our reach, strengthen our capabilities, and build one of India’s leading healthcare networks while remaining committed to delivering high-quality outcomes for patients,” he said.
For Advent, the deal adds to its healthcare portfolio in India which includes Apollo 24/7, Cohance, Felix Pharma, Bharat Serums and Vaccines and Care Hospitals. Globally, Advent has made over 55 healthcare investments across 17 countries and manages $109 billion in assets.
Founded in 2008, the hospital chain has built a presence across the National Capital Region and parts of Madhya Pradesh, with a growing presence in Agra.
