Pune Metro Line 3, connecting Hinjawadi with central Pune, is moving closer to becoming operational, with work on all 12 stations between Maan and Shivajinagar now completed. The latest progress update indicates that the much-awaited corridor could begin operations in 2026 after the completion of the remaining works and mandatory approvals.
The update was shared on X by the Member of the Legislative Assembly from Maharashtra’s Shivajinagar constituency, Pune, following an inspection of the project.

With construction progressing towards the final stages, Pune Metro Line 3 is now closer to delivering a direct public transport connection between the city’s western IT corridor and central Pune.
12 stations completed on Pune Metro Line 3
During the review, the MLA inspected construction activities along the corridor with officials and engineers associated with Tata and Siemens.
According to the update, all 12 stations between Maan and Ramnagar have been completed. Of the seven stations located within the Chhatrapati Shivajinagar area, five are also nearing completion.
The remaining construction and finishing works are currently progressing, after which the project will require the necessary safety and other statutory approvals before opening for commuters.
Maan to Shivajinagar metro connectivity targeted for 2026
The immediate objective is to enable metro services between Maan and District Court, Shivajinagar, in 2026. The section will provide a direct rapid-transit link between Pune’s western IT hub and the city centre. Once operational, the corridor is expected to improve connectivity for people travelling regularly between Hinjawadi, Wakad, Baner, Balewadi and Shivajinagar.
Pune Metro Line 3: Length, Stations, Route
Pune Metro Line 3 is a 23.203-km elevated corridor running from Maan to Civil Court. It will pass through several locations, including Hinjawadi, Wakad, Balewadi, Baner and Shivajinagar.
The corridor will have 23 stations: Maan, PMR-2, PMR-3, PMR-4, PMR-5, PMR-6, Hinjawadi, PMR-8, Wakad Chowk, Balewadi Stadium, PMR-11, Ram Nagar, Balewadi Phata, Baner Gaon, Baner, Krushi Anusandhan, Yashada, Savitribai Phule Pune University, R.B.I., Agriculture College, Shivaji Nagar and Civil Court. The Pune Metro Line 3 project has an estimated cost of ₹8,313 crore and is being developed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).
Expected to ease traffic on Pune’s Western side
The Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar corridor is expected to provide an alternative to road-based travel for thousands of daily commuters. By connecting the major employment hub of Hinjawadi with central Pune, the metro line is expected to reduce dependence on private vehicles and help ease congestion on key roads.
