Metro Railway Kolkata will operate additional metro services on May 24, 2026 to help candidates appearing for the UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination. The announcement was made through an official post shared by Kolkata Metro on X.

According to the metro authority, additional services will be launched on the Blue Line and Green Line on Sunday to manage the expected surge in passenger movement because of the nationwide examination. The official X post mentioned, “On 24.05.2006, additional Metro services for the UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026.”

Blue Line services increased

As per the schedule released by Kolkata Metro, 160 services will operate on the Blue Line, up from the regular 152 Sunday services.

The first trains from Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram, Mahanayak Uttam Kumar to Dakshineshwar, Noapara to Shahid Khudiram, and Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar will commence at 7 am instead of the normal Sunday start time of 9 am.

Metro services on the Blue Line will provide service at 30-minute intervals between 7 am and 9 am. After 9 am, normal Sunday services will continue across the corridor.

More Green Line trains on exam day

Kolkata Metro has also increased operations on the Green Line. A total of 116 services will run on the route instead of the usual 108 services.

The first metro from Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V and from Salt Lake Sector V to Howrah will begin at 7 am instead of 9 am. On a similar note, trains on the Green Line will also operate at 30-minute intervals between 7 am and 9 am before regular Sunday schedules restart later in the day.

Yellow Line normal, no services on Orange and Purple lines

As per the official statement, the last metro timings on both the Blue Line and Green Line will remain unchanged despite the additional services.

While normal Sunday service will continue on the Yellow Line, there will be no Sunday operations on the Orange Line and Purple Line, as per the schedule chart shared by Kolkata Metro.
