DMRC schedule update for Republic day: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday announced that metro train services will begin at 3 AM on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day.

Ahead of Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2026, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced special travel arrangements to better manage foot traffic and ensure the smooth movement of commuters and spectators heading to Kartavya Path.

Entry and Exit gates closed at 6 stations

The DMRC also announced that the entry and exit gates of six metro stations will remain closed on January 26 from 3:00 am until the conclusion of the Republic Day programme.

Specific gates closed for entry/exit will also be closed across 6 stations as a part of the larger security measures enforced by the railway body.

These six stations include: Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate and ITO.

Metro schedule on Republic day

All metro lines begin operations at 3:00 am on Republic Day. According to the DMRC notification, trains will run at 15-minute intervals between 3:00 am and 6:00 am. 

After 6:00 am, services will follow the normal schedule. Parking Facilities Metro parking at stations will remain fully operational throughout the day.

In a statement, Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director, Corporate Communications, DMRC said: “As the nation celebrates the pride and spirit of Republic Day, Delhi Metro will commence its services at 3:00 AM on all lines on 26th January 2026 (Monday).

To ensure smooth travel for commuters, trains will operate at intervals of 15 minutes until 6:00 AM. Thereafter, the regular timetable will be followed for the rest of the day.”

Advice for passengers

In its notification, the DMRC has advised passengers to plan their trips in advance, arrive at stations early, and factor in additional time for security checks and crowd movement, especially if travelling to the parade or related events.

Passengers have also been asked to verify station access points in advance and plan their journey accordingly.
