The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has officially approved a major extension of the Noida Metro Rail Project. This project is expected to bridge a vital gap between Noida and Delhi, making daily travel much smoother for thousands of commuters.

The most recently approved extension corridor from Noida Sector 142 to Botanical Garden (Noida) of Noida Metro Rail Project will add an extra 11.56 Km to the metro network and will feature 8 elevated stations.

The new stretch, connecting Sector 142 to Botanical Garden, will finally integrate the standalone Aqua Line with the broader Delhi Metro network. On operationalization of this corridor, Noida and Greater Noida city will have 61.62 Km of active Metro Rail Network.

How does this extension benefit passengers?

The centerpiece of this expansion is the Botanical Garden transit hub. Currently, Aqua Line passengers must endure a cumbersome “exit-and-walk” transfer at Sector 51/52. The new extension allows a seamless direct interchange with:

Blue Line: Towards Central Delhi and Noida Electronic City.
Magenta Line: Connecting directly to South Delhi and IGI Airport.

The Botanical Garden station is already a major transit hub. By connecting the Noida Metro (Aqua Line) to this point, commuters will gain a direct interchange with two of Delhi’s busiest lines.

The soon to be unveiled extension corridor is also expected to provide relief to passengers who routinely travel to Major MNCs and IT Hubs for work such as Microsoft at Sec-145, TCS at Sec-157, Havells at Sec-126, Infosys at Sec-132, Cognizant at Sec-135, Adobe at Sec-132, Oracle at Sec-127

Official govt statement

As per information available on government websites, the extension has been planned to connect vital areas with the metro network.

From the government’s perspective, the extension Corridor from Noida Sector 142 to Botanical Garden (Noida) is set to not only enhance connectivity but also stimulate economic activity and ease urban mobility for both residents and commuters related to employment, business, education & general transit.

This phase aims to seamlessly integrate key zones of Noida, including corporate houses and commercial hubs such as Advant Business Park at Sec-142, Skymark One Mall at Sec-98, Mall of Noida at Sec-93.

The new extension corridor is also expected to smoothen transit networks to educational institutes like Amity University at Sec-125, Panchsheel Balak Inter College at Sec-91, Mahamaya Balika Inter College at Sec-44.
