August 25: Banks closed in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram
Financial institutions in Kerala’s cities of Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will be closed on Tuesday, August 25, in observance of festivities like First Onam and Milad-i-Sherif (Birthday of Prophet Muhammad).
August 26: Banks closed in 20 cities
Financial institutions will suspend their operations in 20 cities across the country on Wednesday, August 26, including the national capital, New Delhi, and the financial capital, Mumbai, in observance of Id-E-Milad/ Baravafat/Milad-un-Nabi (Birthday of Prophet Mohammad)/ Thiruvonam.
These festivals will also be celebrated in the cities of Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, and Dehradun. Other cities where banks will remain shut are: Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, and Vijayawada.
Banks across 20 of the 34 major cities will be closed on Wednesday.
August 28: Bank closure for Raksha Bandhan
Banks will be closed in 12 cities, including Uttarakhand’s capital city of Dehradun, in observance of various festivals like Raksha Bandhan/Pang-Lhabsol/Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi/Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi/Ayyankali Jayanthi.
Other cities where lenders will suspend their operations on Friday, August 28, are: Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Gangtok, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Shimla, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram.
Are banks open on Saturday?
However, you can visit your nearby branch on Saturday, August 29, as it happens to be a fifth Saturday, but banks will remain closed on Sunday, following their usual weekly closure. Banks in India operate on open on first, third, and fifth Saturdays, while they remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays.
