Mother Dairy, a major dairy in Delhi-NCR has hiked it’s milk prices by Re 1 for both half and one litre pouch. This hike will be in effect from July 16 and there will be no increase in the rate of token milk.

The milk supplier in June had said it will pay farmers Rs 2 more on every litre procured during this summer but had ruled out any increase in retail prices for at least next two months.

“We are not increasing the consumer prices of liquid milk currently. The last price increase was taken in May 2014 and we are striving to retain prices while giving competitive and remunerative price to the farmer,” a Mother Dairy Spokesperson had told FE Online.

“Though the farmer prices have been increasing over the past 3 months due to environmental temperature, summers and season demand by about Rs 2.50/kg; Mother Dairy has been able to absorb the impact. The prices are likely to go up further in coming months. We are keeping a close watch on the milk availability and price situation and may take a call on consumer prices if the situation warrants,” the Spokesperson added.

Mother Dairy sells about 35 lakh litres per day, of which 30 lakh litres is in Delhi-NCR. It has about 800 milk booths and nearly 400 stores in the national capital region.
