Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a new order in Saudi Arabia worth in the range of Rs 5,000-10,000 crore for the extension of the Riyadh Metro.
The Heavy Civil Infrastructure business vertical of L&T has been awarded the contract by the Royal Commission of Riyadh City.
L&T to execute key works in Riyadh Metro Red Line expansion
The order forms part of an ultra-mega project won by a global consortium that includes Webuild S.p.A, L&T, Nesma & Partners Contracting, Alstom and IDOM.
The project involves extending the Red Line of the Riyadh Metro network, one of the key corridors of the city’s mass rapid transit system.
Scope includes elevated and underground sections
Under the contract, L&T will undertake the design and turnkey construction of an 8.4 km-long metro corridor. The alignment will include both elevated and underground sections.
The scope of work also covers the construction of five metro stations along the Red Line extension.
L&T wins Petronet LNG hydrocarbon contract in January
Earlier this month, on January 16, the company had also announced winning a large order worth between Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore for its hydrocarbon onshore business. The contract was awarded by Petronet LNG, a joint venture promoted by four leading PSUs—Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), GAIL (India) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL).
