JSW Steel reported a 5% QoQ steel output decline in the third quarter of FY26. The company’s consolidated steel production in Q3 FY26 came down to 7.48 million tonnes, compared to 7.90 million tonnes in the previous quarter. 

The steelmaker said that the shutdown of a blast furnace at the Vijaynagar facility is the primary reason for the production decline in the quarter. The company elaborated that the blast furnace 3 at the Vijaynagar plant has been under shutdown since September for a capacity upgrade and is likely to resume operations by the end of this fiscal year. 

“The capacity utilisation for Indian operations for the quarter excluding BF3 capacity was at 93% and including BF3 capacity was at 85%” JSW Steel said in an exchange filing. 

JSW Steel region-wise production 

In the exchange filing, JSW Steel stated that while its consolidated production in Q3 was down 5 per cent on a quarterly basis;  however,  on a yearly basis, the steel major’s production was 6 per cent higher. 

JSW Steel’s production in India was at 7.28 million tonnes in Q3 FY26. The company’s India production was down 5 per cent QoQ (7.66 MT in Q2 FY26), but a 7 per cent higher on YoY (6.8 MT in Q3 FY25). 

JSW Steel’s production from the Ohio plant was at 0.28 million tonnes in Q3 FY26, compared to 0.24 million tonnes in Q2 FY26. In the last 9 months, i.e the three quarter of FY26, JSW Steel’s consolidated steel output stood at 22.65 million tonnes, 12 per cent higher than the same period in the last fiscal year.

JSW Steel has informed the stock exchanges that its quarterly financial statements for Q3 FY26 will be released on January 23, 2026. In the last one month, the company’s share price has gained upward momentum, rising 4.7 per cent. 

As the company prepares for the release of its Q3 results, another important development for the company is the Competition Commission of India’s probe, which found the company in breach of antitrust law for colluding on steel selling prices.
