Bomb threat on Kuwait-Hyd IndiGo flight

According to the Telegraph, Flight 6E-1234, an IndiGo Airbus A321-251NX, had to be diverted while in the air after authorities received an email warning about a possible explosive on board. The email reportedly described the threat as a “human bomb.”

The flight took off from Kuwait at 1:56 am. It landed safely at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 8:10 am, according to flight tracking data. Security agencies, bomb disposal squads, and emergency responders are currently conducting thorough checks of the plane.

Officials confirmed that all passengers and crew are safe. Teams from the airport, IndiGo, and law enforcement are working together to investigate the threat.

IndiGo has not released an official statement yet. Authorities have also not shared more details about the threat or the results of the ongoing inspection.

This incident comes a day after a private school in the Mira Road area of Thane district, Maharashtra, received a bomb threat on Monday morning. According to the authorities, school’s office received an email around 6:30 am claiming a bomb was planted on its premises. Police were immediately alerted, and a thorough search by the bomb detection and disposal squad was conducted. The threat was later revealed as a hoax. The area was cleared, and school continued as usual.

This is not the first flight threat in recent days. On November 23, a Bahrain–Hyderabad flight was diverted to Mumbai after a bomb threat, which later turned out to be a hoax.

Government data reveals that in 2024, Indian airlines received around 728 bomb threats. In 2025 alone, an estimated 100 threats have been reported, with 65 of them recorded by July. According to data from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), a total of 881 hoax bomb threats were reported by airlines between 2022 and July 20, 2025.
