Exide Industries has appointed Avik Kumar Roy as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, the company announced in an official filing after the Board of Directors met earlier today. He takes over from Subir Chakraborty, who will retire today (30 April).
In an official filing, the company stated, “Based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC) and subject to the approval of the Shareholders of the Company, the Board of Directors have appointed Avik Kumar Roy as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for three years, from 1st May 2024 till 30th April 2027.”
Avik Kumar Roy joined the services of the Company on 2nd January 2019 as President Industrial and has been on the Company’s Board of Directors as a Whole-time Director (designated as Director-Industrial) since 1st May 2021.
Roy holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata and has completed his EMBA from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila. He has over 34 years of experience as an Industrial Business Leader in various organizations.
Before joining Exide he was designated as Vice President & Business Unit Head in Siemens India. He has worked in International management assignments as Director-Strategy in Siemens AG, Germany as well as Director of Siemens Energy in Bangladesh.
