An IndiGo flight operating from Delhi to Pune was subjected to heightened security checks on Thursday evening after receiving a bomb threat upon arrival at Pune airport, officials said. The incident comes mere days after a separate Delhi-Bagdogra IndiGo flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Lucknow following a similar threat.

The threat, which was later found to be a hoax, was conveyed through a handwritten note, which was discovered inside the aircraft’s lavatory, as per sources cited by ANI. Flight 6E 2608 landed safely, and all passengers were deboarded. As per the details shared by the officials, the aircraft was scheduled to arrive at 8:40 pm but landed at 9:24 pm. It was parked at Bay No. 3 at 9:27 pm, following which Air Traffic Control (ATC) passed on the bomb threat information to Apron Control. As per standard security procedures, the aircraft was shifted to an isolation bay as a precautionary step.

What steps were taken after the threat was reported?

After the bomb alert, Apron Control informed all concerned agencies, and the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was convened to analyse the situation, as officials told PTI. Based on the assessment, the aircraft underwent a thorough physical probe by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS). Security agencies followed established protocols to ensure there was no risk to passengers, crew, or airport operations.

After the checks were conducted, officials confirmed that no suspicious or adverse findings were identified on the aircraft. “Upon completion of the procedures, the aircraft was cleared and released for normal operations. The situation was handled in a coordinated and timely manner , and no further incident was reported,” an official mentioned, as quoted by PTI.

What has IndiGo said about the incident?

In a statement issued after the incident, IndiGo stated that soon after landing, a security threat was noticed on board the Delhi-Pune flight. “Following the established protocol, we informed the relevant authorities immediately and are fully cooperating with them in following the standard operating procedures. All our customers and crew disembarked safely,” the airline mentioned.

Second similar incident reported in five days

This was the second such incident involving IndiGo within five days. Earlier an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Bagdogra (6E 6650) was diverted to Lucknow on January 18, 2026, after a security threat was detected on board. Panic was reported among passengers.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Verma, a handwritten message on tissue paper was found inside the aircraft’s toilet, claiming the presence of a bomb. The Bagdogra-bound flight, which was carrying 238 passengers along with the pilot and crew, made an emergency landing in Lucknow. Extensive checks were done by the CISF teams and the bomb squad, and no explosive material was found in this incident either, as reported by ANI.
