With dense fog and poor visibility forecast over several parts of the country, airlines have issued fresh travel advisories cautioning passengers of possible delays, cancellations and diversions across multiple routes.
Air India has warned that heavy fog in the national capital and nearby areas could impact the operations schedule. The carrier stated that reduced visibility over Delhi and parts of northern India “may have a cascading impact on flight schedules across our network, urging customers to plan their journey with extra time in advance.

Several airports flagged for low visibility
SpiceJet also warned its flyers of weather-related disruption at two busy eastern hubs. Citing “bad weather (poor visibility)” in Patna and Kolkata. The airline added that “all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may be affected” at both airports. Travellers have been advised to keep a close track of real-time updates through the airline’s flight status page.

IndiGo also flagged a widening impact zone because of low visibility and fog over Bhopal, Kolkata, Indore and Jaipur. The airline also cautioned that flight schedules to and from these cities could be affected. The airline stated that it was “closely monitoring the weather” and doing its best to get passengers to their destinations “safely and smoothly”.
Flyers get rescheduling and refund options amid fog-related disruptions
All three airlines are advising passengers to rely on digital channels for all the latest updates. SpiceJet has asked passengers to track flights through their website, whereas Air India and IndiGo have advised travellers to check their status on respective websites or mobile apps before heading for the airport, and to allow extra travel time.
IndiGo, in its official post on X, mentioned that it has taken “proactive measures to minimise disruptions,” including measures to better manage delays, cancellations and diversions. Ground staff have been deployed “to extend assistance to our guests” in case schedules are disturbed.

The advisory also underlined a dedicated fog-related initiative under which passengers booked on flights expected to be affected get alerts in advance. Passengers also have an options to reschedule at no extra cost or cancel for a full refund and without any penalties.
Even as flyers brace for longer wait and last-minute changes, airlines’ operational decisions will be driven by safety considerations. IndiGo also highlighted that “the safety of our guests and crew is our highest priority” while thanking flyers for their patience and understanding during the current spell of foggy weather.
