The northern regions of the country have been facing persistent thick fog conditions for days now, with no end in sight. On Saturday morning, the national capital found itself shrouded in dense fog, leading to disruptions in flight operations at Delhi International Airport.
The Flight Information Display Board (FIDB) at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport indicated numerous delays in both domestic and international flights due to the prevailing foggy conditions across various parts of the country.
Flight disruptions at Delhi airport
A visual of the arrival and departure boards at the airport was shared by ANI, which showed that the flights flying in from Toronto, Riyadh, Jeddah and Doha were among the ones delayed.
Flights from Bangkok, Copenhagen, Milan and Frankfurt were also delayed.
As per FlightRadar24, the average delay the Delhi airport is seeing at the moment, for arrivals, is of 5 minutes, with the disruption index at 0.6.
At the time of writing this report, the flights to Kolkata, Ayodhya, Goa, Jammu, Ahmedabad, New York, and Cairo, have been delayed. The average departure delay is 20 minutes. There are about 63% delayed departures.
Similarly, flights from Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Phuket, Raipur, and Mumbai were among those delayed. The average arrival delay percentage stands at 36%, while there are about 4% cancelled arrivals.
