Railway Budget for Maharashtra 2018: To boost the Indian Railways network across Maharashtra, the government has announced some big projects. There has been a growth of 468% in Railway Budget allocation from an average of Rs 1,171 crores in 2009-14 to a total outlay of Rs 6,658 crore in 2018-19.
Railway Budget for Maharashtra 2018: To boost the Indian Railways network across Maharashtra, the Modi government has announced some big projects in the Union Budget 2018. The national transporter will see many game-changing projects in Maharashtra in the near future. One of the major projects announced by the Modi government to develop the state’s Rail network is a doubling project. The doubling project will cost Rs 1,860 crore, as per data released by the Ministry of Railways. Another new project to develop the state’s Railway sector is Igatpuri- Manmad 3rd line, which will cover a distance of 124 km.
There is good news for all those who travel by the Mumbai local! An improved suburban network in the state’s capital, Mumbai has also been announced. The suburban network will cost Rs 51,000 crore and it will have line doubling of 90 km with additional lines of 150 km. The new development for suburban network will also include elevated corridors on some sections. Mumbai local trains is one of the largest local rail networks of India. The network, which is spread over 465 kilometers across Mumbai, is said to cater around 7.5 million passengers on daily basis.

The ongoing Railway projects in the state of Maharashtra include 36 projects at an estimated cost of Rs 59,624 crore. These projects which are still under execution process will cover a distance of 5,976 km.
