FM Arun Jaitley said that despite of the slowdown in exports, India's GDP stood at 7.6 per cent. While focusing on the Agriculture sector of the country, Jaitley announced an irrigation fund of Rs 20,000 cr along with Rs 15,000 crore scheme to ease loan burden for farmers in 2016-17.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented NDA governement’s third Union Budget 2016-17 in the Parliament today.

FM Arun Jaitley said that despite of the slowdown in exports, India’s GDP stood at 7.6 per cent. While focusing on the Agriculture sector of the country, Jaitley announced an irrigation fund of Rs 20,000 cr along with Rs 15,000 crore scheme to ease loan burden for farmers in 2016-17.

He also announced the highest ever amount to be invested in MGNREGA, i.e. Rs 38,500 crore. Moreover, in a move to ease out farmer’s accessibility to market, the govt plans to  implement unified agricultural market scheme and an e-platform for mediation.
