Auto expo 2016: Tata Nexon will be available in two powertrains - a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron with turbocharger and a 1.3-litre multijet diesel engine. First unveiled as a concept at the 2014 Auto Expo, the production-ready version of the Tata Nexon was unveiled in India today at this year's edition of the Motor Show. The first sub-compact SUV from Tata Motors, the Nexon will be launched later this year to take on the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and Hyundai i20-based sub-metre SUV. Similar to the Hexa, the Tata Nexon sub-4 metre SUV too is a global product and will be launched in several markets including India. The Nexon will be based on X1 platform on which the Zest and Bolt are built. The front fascia of the car looks a little different from the concept with a new set of headlamps and different bumper. The grille, however, looks identical to the original concept. Unlike the concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2014, the production-ready version misses out on LED headlamps and ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels. It instead features disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. Coming to engine options, the Tata Nexon is available in two powertrains - a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron with turbocharger and a 1.3-litre multijet diesel engine. While the former engine powers the Zica, albeit without turbo, the latter one is the same that does duty on the Bolt and the Zest. Measuring 3,900mm in length, the Tata Nexon is as long as its rivals and will easily accommodate 5 passengers.
