Tata Motors recently teased the Kite hatchback car in the company's new TVC featuring Barcelona soccer star Lionel Messi, has now revealed the official sketch image of the vehicle itself ahead of its debut in the first week of December 2015.
The Tata Kite hatchback will be the third all-new car under Tata Motors' HorizoNext umbrella after the Zest and Bolt.
For people not in the know, Tata Motors is working on two new products - a budget hatchback and and entry-level sub-compact sedan - under 'Kite' project. Upon launch, both the products will get new names and are likely to replace Tata Indica eV2 and Indigo eCS.
Similar to the Zest and the Bolt, the Tata Kite hatch has been designed by Tata Motors' three design studios in Coventry, Turin and Pune. The front fascia of the hatchback looks quite similar to the Bolt with identical 'humanity line' flowing into headlamps. Though the vehicle's side and rear profiles look completely different.
The Tata Kite hatchback is likely to be offered with an all-new 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine that is good for 64bhp and 140Nm. The petrol version of the car, on the other hand, might get the same 1.2-litre petrol unit that does duty on the Zest and the Bolt. Built on the Indica's XO platform, the Kite will be manufactured at the company's Sanand, Gujarat-based facility.
