Auto expo 2016: Powering the Tata Hexa is a 154.2bhp, 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder VARICOR 400 diesel engine that is paired to a 6-speed manual, and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. Tata Hexa's production-ready version finally made its India debut on the inaugural day of the Auto Expo 2016. Similar to all the new age Tata products, the Hexa too has been designed by Tata's three design studios - India, Italy and UK. The Hexa is also the first SUV for which inputs from Land Rover were taken. First showcased as a concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the Hexa is the company's global SUV and will be launched in several markets. The Tata Hexa is based on the tweaked Aria platform, and shares its engine with the MPV. The new Tata SUV features a 2.2-litre Varicor 400 diesel engine that also powers the Aria and the more powerful version of the Safari Strome. Mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, this engine produces 154.2bhp and 400Nm. Besides the AWD system, the Hexa comes with four driving models - Dynamic, automatic, comfort and rough-road - thus allowing driver to adjust suspension and engine settings as per the requirement. Powering the Tata Hexa is a 154.2bhp, 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder VARICOR 400 diesel engine that is paired to a 6-speed manual, and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle comes with the 4WD drivetrain system, coupled with a Drive Mode selector that offers four driving modes – Dynamic, Comfort, Automatic and Rough-Road. Tata has designed the car on a new design platform, and equipped it with plenty of comfort and safety features. With features such as 19-inch alloy wheels, plastic body cladding, blackened B, C and D pillars, high shoulder line, high ground clearance, the Hexa looks like a full-shaped SUV. Though unlike its rivals, it has a rather straight design with now edgy elements. Other key design features are projector headlamps with LED daytime running light, dual-tone bumper, LED tail-lamps, a roof spoiler, and dual-exhaust pipes. With 4764mm length, 1780mm height, 1895mm width and 2,850mm wheelbase, the Tata Hexa is one of the most spacious vehicles in its league. To ensure high level of comfort, the company has captain seats in leather for all 6 passengers with integrated arm rest. Also, long wheelbase and height of the vehicle help in offering more than enough leg room and head room even for tall passengers. Just like the Safari Storme, the Tata Hexa also gets Harman-developed infotainment system with touch-screen and Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in support. Expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh - Rs 15 lakh, the Tata Hexa will be launched later this year.
