In a bid to regain its position in the premium SUV segment, Ford India is planning to launch the all-new Endeavour in the second half of January 2016.
First launched in 2003 in the Indian market, the vehicle had received major upgrades in 2006 and 2009; though the overall shape and platform remained largely unchanged. Now when the competition in the premium SUV segment has got fierce and there are a very few takers of the Ford Endeavour, it had become necessary for the American carmaker to bring in the new-generation model of its popular SUV.
The new Ford Endeavour is built on an all-new platform, T6, which is the same on which the company's popular Ranger pick-up truck is based. Similar to the outgoing model, the new-generation Ford Endeavour will also be a body-on-frame SUV with 3 seating rows.
The all-new Ford Endeavour model has gotten away with the boxy design, as it looks edgier and sportier than the old model thanks to Ford's Edge design philosophy. The vehicle's front fascia gets Ford's signature trapezoidal chrome grille, sweptback projector headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, all-new bumper, new fog lamps and aluminium scuff plate. With inclined roofline, new set of alloys, raked windows and all-new wheel arches, the new Endeavour's side profile also looks sportier than before.
Just like the front and side profiles, the new Ford Endeavour's rear profile also looks completely new with wraparound tail-lamps with large chrome bar merging into it.
The new-gen model of the Ford Endeavour will be made available with two diesel engine options - a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder and a 3.2-litre five-cylinder. Coming to its dimensions, the all-new Endeavour will be 4893mm long, 1862mm wide, 1837mm high and will have a wheelbase of 2850mm.
