Every time we feel that Maruti Suzuki is losing the grip on the numero uno position in the automobile market, it surprisingly comes up with new launches. The largest carmaker in India is once again in news as it has launched one of the top variants of Celerio ZXi AGS (auto gear shift).
The addition of new variant is to celebrate the first anniversary of Celerio in the Indian market. The car is one of the hottest offerings in the country which was launched just a year back and has done a really wonderful job for the company in terms of sales.
The hatchback is designed keeping in mind the choices of young car fanatics. Its pleasing exteriors and sporty looks add to its popularity. According to a report, the new variant has been priced at Rs. 4.99 lakh (Ex Showroom Delhi).
Talking about features and luxuries in Maruti Celerio ZXi AGS, it has been provided with driver side airbags, USB, CD, Bluetooth and Aux–in support and double –din audio system with radio. It also has audio control system on the steering wheels so that the driver does not distract while driving .
The steering wheels are also tilt-adjustable while keyless entry has been included in this new trim. Pretty decent changes have been made outside as well.
The car embraces a rear wiper with washer and demister and electronically adjustable ORVMs. Apart from these features, others are just carried forward from LXi and VXi models.
Besides all the goodies, Celerio remains the same as far as aesthetics are concerned.
The front fascia has wraparound designed headlamp cluster that comes with powerful headlamps as well as turn indicators. It surrounds a wide radiator grille with parallel chrome strips that are marked with company’s logo.
Its front body colored bumper has a unique design with extensive air intake section, surrounded by round shaped fog lamps. This increases the overall appearance of the front profile. However, these fog lamps have been included only in the top end ZXi trim.
Inside, the car has lot of storage space with cup holders, bottle holders and magazine pockets. Seats have better cushions and are combined with headrest, which offers comfortable seating to all its occupants.
The makers have used high quality fabric upholstery for covering the seats. Its cabin features are good and meets the upmarket standards.
It also have driver seat height adjuster, which adds to the comfort quotient. Celerio gets an advanced music system and four high quality speakers that keep the occupants entertained.
Trim features a three spoke urethane steering wheel that has multi-functional switches of audio and Bluetooth.
Celerio's petrol range is powered by a 1.0-litre, K-series engine that is combined with a multi-point fuel injection system.
This petrol engine has three cylinders and 12-valves that can displace 998cc, which helps it to produce a maximum power output of 67.06bhp at 6000rpm and highest torque of 90Nm at just 3500rpm. This petrol engine is capable of producing fair mileage of about 23.1kmpl, which is really very impressive.
The company is also offering a CNG version that is equipped with the K10b petrol engine, but it has an intelligent gas port injection.
When you switch to the CNG mode, it can generate out the max power output of 57bhp at 6000rpm in combination with a commanding output of 77Nm at 3500rpm.
This enables the motor to produce a maximum mileage of 31.7kmpl, which is probably the best in its class.
Very soon Celerio diesel model will see the light of the day. The car is all set to become the most fuel efficient car in India. Yes you got it right; the car is likely to return mileage around 32kmpl, which no other car has delivered till date.
Recently, Maruti Suzuki Swift has also attained milestone of 13 lac sales in India during the time span of 10 years.
