Maruti Suzuki is is all set to launch the 2015 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV facelift in India this month with the price starting at about Rs 7.50 lakh. This is one of the larger versions of vehicles that Suzuki has launched to expand its portfolio over the years even though its forte is small cars - Maruti Suzuki has rarely done well with its 'big cars' in terms of sales.
A production spec version of 2015 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga facelift was showcased at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show in August this year and it is expected that the Indian version will be identical to the one showcased.
The original Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV was able to register an impressive number of bookings within only a couple of months of its launch, which took place 3 years ago in 2012. Today, images revealing variants and features of the car have been leaked online.
The updated Ertiga is coming with new features along with refreshed exteriors and expected mechanical upgrades. The prices are expected to remain largely unaltered except for minor bumps. So, we’ve compiled a basic list of top features likely to figure in the car:
Talking about the changes, three-slat chrome grille is new along with the chrome appliques around the fog lamp on the re-designed front bumper. Headlights remained unaltered while bonnet has received subtle changes. The rear profile receives chrome strip engrossed with Ertiga and a pair of reflectors in-between the unaltered taillights.
On the inside, Ertiga will receive changes similar to that of the Swift and Dzire. Like, push-button engine start-stop, electronically foldable outside rear view mirrors, new upholstery, etc. Considering the competition, the company might also offer the 7-inch touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment with navigation in the facelifted Ertiga. Moreover, the 50:50 split last row folding will be carried forward in the Indian version from the facelifted Indonesian Ertiga.
In terms of engines, Ertiga facelift will carry forward the 1.4-liter K14B petrol and 1.3-liter DDiS 200. However, the 1.3-liter DDiS might get the Suzuki’s SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System) featuring start-stop and brake energy regeneration. The diesel’s fuel efficiency will see a bump if it get the SHVS from outgoing model’s 20.77 kmpl. The petrol could also get an automatic option this time with the facelift. In terms of safety, there’s a possibility that Maruti might standardize airbags on the Ertiga.
