Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) on Tuesday launched Honda Connect, an intelligent and advanced information platform for its customers.

Essentially an intelligent automotive application for smartphones (iOS and Android), Honda Connect provides convenient access to detailed information about Honda vehicles and driving-related information.

Among other things, Honda Connect will give the customers important information about their car even when they are not with it and provide extreme sense of safety and security, the company said.

Apart from that, the application will also inform the customers about service due and health of the car from time to time. This connected car feature has been developed by Minda i-Connect and is being offered by the Honda dealerships exclusively to all new customers of Jazz, City and CR-V. The device is priced at Rs 2,999.

The app can be downloaded free of cost.

“The development of Honda Connect is part of our mission to create innovations that best suit out customers’ digital-based life styles. This platform offers a value added communications channel that bonds Honda even more closely with our customers,” Katsushi Inoue, President and Chief Executive Officer, HCIL, said.

Some mass-market car companies such as Maruti and Mahindra too have such connectivity features; however, these are not as comprehensive as Honda Connect. The closest that comes to Honda Connect is Ford SYNC.
