The iconic Ford Mustang will debut in India in the second quarter of this year, the company said on Thursday, ending a long wait for consumers who were looking forward to its launch. Mustang will drive in through the completely built unit (CBU) route. Mustang will be launched here with a V8 petrol engine. “For the first time in 50 years we have a right handed Mustang,” Ford India managing director and president Nigel Harris said. The company did not disclose the price of the vehicle. Since the Mustang first went on sale in 1964, Ford has sold more than 9 million vehicles. It has made thousands of appearances in films, television, music and video games and is the world’s most-liked vehicle on Facebook, according to a release from Ford. The clean-sheet design of the new Mustang evokes the essential character of the brand, retaining key design elements – including the long sculpted hood and short rear deck – with contemporary execution.
