After its public debut at Auto Expo 2016, the Ford Mustang will be launched in April The iconic Ford Mustang was finally unveiled in India on Thursday at a pre-launch event in Delhi. After making its public debut at the Auto Expo 2016, the Ford Mustang will be launched in April, 2016.  Though the Ford Mustang doesn't have a direct rival in the country, the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG will be its key rival upon launch. The Ford Mustang will be brought to India via completely built up (CBU) route. As against the global model that comes with multiple engine options, the India-spec version will get a 5.0-litre V8 gasoline engine that churns out a whopping 420bhp and 529Nm. Unlike the global model, where a 6-speed manual gearbox too is on offer, the India-bound Ford Mustang will only get a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. First launched in the year 1964, the Ford Mustang was only available for the left-hand-drive markets for over 5 decades. It was the year 2014, when the first right-hand-drive version of the Mustang was made and was launched in the UK in 2015. And as soon as the vehicle was turned into right-hand-drive, the company's plans of launching it in the Indian market began. The Ford Mustang will be the company's flagship product in the Indian market, and will help the company build its image. Features on offer will be - sync 3 infotainment system, intelligent access with engine start/stop button, passive entry, adaptive cruise control, automatic wipers, navigation system, etc. Besides regular safety features such as anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, multiple airbags, the car features Blind Sport Information System (BLIS) that detects vehicles in blind spot that a driver may miss. The Ford Mustang also gets Selectable Drive Modes (SDM) that allow the driver to toggle easily between normal, wet/snow, sport and track modes to quickly adjust steering effort, transmission, engine response and electronic stability control settings.
