To consolidate its position in the Indian market, General Motors has plans to invest $1 billion in India. Besides increasing exports from India, the company also announced to launch 10 new models in the next 5 years. First of those promised products is the Chevrolet Trailblazer that was launched on Wednesday in India at Rs. 26.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Just so you know, the car has replaced the Chevrolet Captiva in the Indian market.
Sharing its platform with General Motors’ pickup truck Colorado, the Chevrolet Trailblazer takes head on against other body-on-frame SUVs like Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. Powering the Chevrolet’s new SUV is a 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 197bhp at 3,600rpm and the class-leading torque of 500Nm at 2,000rpm. The SUV features a 6-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheel of the car.
Measuring 4,878mm in length, 1,902m in width, 1,834mm in height and with a wheelbase of 2,870mm, the Chevrolet Trailblazer is one of the most spacious cars in its segment. Since the Trailblazer is an off-roading capable premium SUV, it gets a high ground clearance of 253mm (class-leading) and 18-inches alloy wheels.
