Bajaj Auto that launched the much-awaited V15, the bike made using INS Vikrant's metal, earlier this month will start delivering it to buyers from March 23, 2016. Interestingly, March 23rd is observed as Shaheed Diwas (Martyr Day) in India. On this day in 1931, the three young Indian freedom fighters were hanged to death by the Britishers.
Priced at Rs 62,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Bajaj V15 will attract buyers looking for a premium executive bike at an affordable price. The ex-showroom price also includes the cost of mandatory items, saari guard, crash guard, rear grab handle and cafe racer rear cover, which is Rs 999. The ex-showroom prices of the V15 in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata are Rs 63,682, Rs 62,820 and Rs 65,498 respectively.
The Bajaj V15 looks like a scrambler with some Cafe Racer-inspired styling elements as well. Some key styling elements are - removable rear cowl, 5-twin spoke alloy wheels, INS Vikrant badge, LED taillamps and instrument panel with colour changing LEDs.
Power for the Bajaj V15 comes from a new 149.5cc, single-cylinder, DTS-i engine that comes mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. This engine develops a maximum power output of 12bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 13Nm at 5,500rpm. The Bajaj V15 measures 780mm in width, 2044mm in length, 1355mm in wheelbase, 1070mm in height. It offers a ground clearance of 165mm and has a saddle height of 780mm.
