The Volkswagen Taigun compact-SUV will be launched around August. It is a compact SUV that will go up against established players like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Ford Ecosport and more. Volkswagen has built the Taigun on the MQB A0 IN platform that has been developed specifically for India. With the Taigun, the company plans to grab a share of the ever-growing SUV market. Just like the platform, it will share its engine options with the Skoda Kushaq. There will be a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that will deliver 113.4hp and 175Nm of peak torque. Taigun will also come with a more powerful 1.5-litre petrol engine that will be capable of delivering a peak power of 148hp and peak torque of 250Nm. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Volkswagen claims that 95 per cent of the components for Taigun will be sourced locally. The interior of the SUV will be loaded with the latest tech and features. It will get a digital instrument cluster, connected car features and a sunroof.
