Volkswagen India has launched the updated Polo with BS6 compliant engines at a starting price of Rs 5.82 lakh,ex-showroom. The Volkswagen Polo is now available with 1.0- litre MPI petrol and TSI engines. The 1.0-litre MPI engine produces 74hp of power and 98Nm of torque, while the 1.0-litre TSI generates 108hp/175Nm. All the engines are mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission depending on variants. The Polo is offered in three variants – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline Plus.

    The Volkwagen Polo measures 3,971 mm in length, 1,682 mm in width, 1,469 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,469 mm. It has a fuel tank capacity of 45 litres for both engine options and has body coloured bumpers, reflectors on rear bumpers, heat insulating windscreen, integrated turn indicators on ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) as standard. The higher variants also get dual beam headlamps, cornering lamps, 15 inch steel wheels for the Comfortline version and a 15 inch alloy wheel for the Highline trim.

    The interiors of the Volkswagen Polo are offered with a scratch resistant dashboard, door pockets with storage for up to 1.5 litre bottles in the front doors, sunglass holder in the glovebox, 12 V charging socket, foldable rear seat recline, dead pedal as standard. Higher variants also get aluminium finished accents on the front console, parcel tray, chrome accents and fabric ‘Desert Beige’ dual tone colours. The Comfortline version gets a 2 DIN audio system with Bluetooth compatibility, USB, CD, FM and SD card playback while the top end Highline trim gets a touchscreen infotainment system with voice command and MirrorLink. The base Trendline version gets a wiring harness for an aftermarket audio system.

    The 1.0-litre MPI petrol engine churns out 74hp of power and 98Nm of torque. The 1.0-litre TSI generates 108hp of power and 175Nm of torque. There is no diesel or DSG on offer now.

    The 1.0-litre MPI engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, while the TSI can be ordered with a 6-speed manual or torque converter.

    All variants of the Volkswagen Polo are offered with dual front airbags, ABS (Anti lock Braking System), immobiliser and rear fog lamps. The higher variants also get front fog lamps, anti pinch power windows and auto dimming interior rear view mirror

  • Volkswagen Polo Mileage

    The claimed mileage for the 1.0-litre MPI is 18.48kmpl, while that of the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine with automatic is 17.21kmpl. There is no word on the claimed numbers of the TSI manual. The Polo comes with a 45-litre fuel tank.
