The Volkswagen GTI is a performance hatchback sold by the German carmaker in India. It is available with one petrol engine option, a 1.8 litre TSI turbocharged unit. This engine is paired to a dual clutch automatic transmission. It has a fuel tank capacity of 45 litres and comes with 16 inch alloy wheels and a 215/45 section tyre. The headlamps are full LED units with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps). In terms of safety, the Volkswagen GTI is offered with ABS (Anti lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), 6 airbags, Hill Start Assist, traction control, reverse parking sensor with camera and a rear wiper with washer as well as a defogger.

The Volkswagen GTI measures 3,976 mm in length, 1,682 mm in width, 1,452 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,468mm. It comes with LED headlamps that also have LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) and red inserts. The indicators are integrated into the electrically adjustable as well as foldable ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) and the rear licence plate also comes with LED lighting.

In the Volkswagen GTI, the turbocharged petrol engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. The claimed figure in which 100 kmph is crossed from standstill is 7.2 seconds. The transmission has smooth gear changes and is as good as a manual transmission in terms of the gear changes.
