Volkswagen Ameo
The Volkswagen Ameo is a compact sedan based on the Polo’s platform which is offered in a 1.2 litre petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. While the petrol engine is available only with a manual transmission, the diesel is also offered with an automatic gearbox. It comes with a host of first in segment features such as cruise control, rain sensing wipers, front centre armrest, remote opening/closing of power windows and one touch operation of power windows. In addition, the Ameo also comes with ABS and dual front airbags.

Volkswagen Ameo Exterior
The Volkswagen Ameo measures 3,995 mm in length, thereby availing excise benefits applicable for cars less than four metres. It is 1,682 mm wide, 1,483 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,470 mm. The front track of the Volkswagen Ameo is 1,460 mm and the rear track is 1,456 mm. The compact sedan is offered in five colour options, Blue Silk, Reflex Silver, Toffee Brown, Candy White and Carbon Steel. The front suspension system is a McPherson strut with stabiliser bar while the rear is a semi independent trailing arm. While the lower variants are offered with a 14 inch and 15 inch steel rims, the top end Highline trim is offered with a 15 inch alloy wheel and 185/60 section tyre.

Volkswagen Ameo Interior
The interior of the Volkswagen Ameo is offered with a door pockets in the front doors that can store up to 1.5 litre bottles, dead pedal, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, flat bottom steering wheel and a 12 V charging socket as standard. The higher versions get a dual tone dashboard with leather wrapped steering wheel as well as gear knob, cooled glove box, chrome interior accents and ambient lighting with theatre dimming effect. In addition, the Comfortline variants is offered with a 2 DIN audio system with Bluetooth compatibility as well as USB, AUX, Radio and CD playback. The top end Highline trim gets a touchscreen infotainment system with the aforementioned features as well as MirrorLink technology for smartphones with steering mounted audio and phone controls.

Volkswagen Ameo Engine
The Volkswagen Ameo is powered by a 1,198 cc MPI petrol engine and a 1,498 cc TDI diesel engine. The petrol engine generates 74 hp of power at 5,400 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 3,750 rpm while the diesel engine produces 108 hp of power at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm to 3,000 rpm. Both engines are tuned for the best balance between performance and fuel efficiency.

Volkswagen Ameo Transmission
Unlike most of its competitors, the Volkswagen Ameo is offered with a 5 speed manual transmission as well as a 7 speed DSG (Direct-Shift Gearbox) automatic gearbox. The automatic transmission, however, is available only for the diesel engine options and the petrol engine variants are restricted to a 5 speed manual.
