The Mercedes-Benz GLS is a luxury SUV that is offered in India by the German carmaker in one petrol and one diesel engine option. Both engines are mated to a 9G TRONIC 9-speed automatic gearbox. It is available in six colour options Magnetite Black, Cavensite Blue, Designo Diamond White Bright, Citrine Brown, Designo Hyacinth Red Metallic and Diamond Silver. Standard equipment available with the Mercedes-Benz GLS are panoramic sunroof, 20 inch alloy wheels, LED tail lamps as well as headlamps, automatic climate control, COMAND Online infotainment system with steering mounted controls and a number of safety features. The safety features available in the Mercedes-Benz GLS include ABS (Anti lock Braking System), traction control, PRE SAFE system, ATTENTION ASSIST and PARKTRONIC parking system.

The 2,996 cc petrol motor generates 333 hp of power from 5,250 rpm to 6,000 rpm and 480 Nm of torque between 1,600 rpm and 4,000 rpm.

The top speed of the diesel variant is 222 kmph while that of the petrol is 240 kmph. The zero to 100 kmph figure of the petrol trim comes up in 6.6 seconds and in the diesel version is claimed to be achieved in 7.8 seconds.
