One of the most popular SUVs currently on sale in India, the Mahindra XUV500 received a facelift in April 2018. Mahindra launched the XUV500 for the first time in the year 2011 and it is the company's flagship model for India. The SUV received its midlife facelift in the year 2015. The latest update of the Mahindra XUV500 sees the SUV getting subtle cosmetic changes with the inclusion of new features and an upgraded engine under its sleeve. The price of the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 has been kept in the range of Rs 12.32 lakh to Rs 17.48 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 primarily rivals against the likes of the Tata Nexa, Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass.

The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 looks more appealing than the outgoing model, all thanks to the subtle cosmetic changes. The SUV gets a new toothed shape grille up front along with LED DRLs that now come in a horizontal fashion above the headlamps. The fog lamp design look the same but these now get a little bit of chrome for a more premium touch. The outside rear view mirrors get integrated turning winkers and the SUV now get black plastic side skirting. The tail lamp design sees a significant revision and the new units are smalller as compared to the ones on the previous model.
The cabin of the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 is quite spacious and can seat seven people awithout any hassle. The seats are being offered in leather, jacquard and premium fabric, depending on the variant. There is also a panoramic sunroof, eight way adjustable driver seat and a 7-inch touchscreen on offer.
Powering the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 is the same 2.2-litre four cylinder mHawk engine from the previous model. However, the power and torque figures have been upgraded from 140 bhp, 330 Nm to 155 bhp, 360 Nm respectively. Besides, there is also a 2.2-litre petrol engine on offer that is good for producing 140 bhp and 320 Nm.
The petrol version of the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, the diesel engine option can be had with a choice of a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 gets disc brakes on all wheels and an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) comes as standard for added safety. In terms of safety, the SUV gets features like rain sensing wipers, child sensing lock, hill assist, brake assist, automatic headlamps and more.
The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 returns a fuel efficiency of close to 13.6 kmpl for the petrol variant and 14.5 kmpl for the diesel version.
