Kia Seltos is the company’s first ever offering for the Indian market that literally set the sales charts on fire. The Kia Seltos is being offered with both petrol and diesel engine options both of which are BS-VI compliant. The cabin of the Kia Seltos features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The vehicle  get features like mood lighting, automatic climate control, heads up display, 8-speaker Bose sound system and more. The Kia Seltos competes against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier in the segment. In June, the company made some changes to the variant line up of the Seltos after which some features of the top variants were made available on the mid level variants as well. After the variant reshuffle, two turbo petrol variants – GTK manual and GTX 7-DCT  were discontinued. Kia Seltos price in India starts at Rs 9.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

    The exteriors of the Kia Seltos are quite butch. It gets LED headlamps and a dominating ‘Tiger Nose’ grille up-front. It comes with faux skid plates along with black plastic cladding that grant it a dominating look. The side profile of this compact SUV consists of bold character lines and swelled wheel arches. At the back, the wraparound tail-lamps are linked together with a thick chrome strip which runs along the length of the boot-lid. There is a small roof-mounted spoiler on the back as well.

    The interiors of the Kia Seltos are quite premium. The cabin has a dual-tone colour scheme of black and beige. The top-half of the dashboard is covered with soft-touch materials. The Seltos comes with a floating touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, steering mounted audio controls among other features. With the variant reshuffle, now the lower variants of the Kia Seltos also get a sunroof. Moreover, the UVO connected app also gets some additional features.

    The engine line-up of the Kia Seltos consists of two petrol and one diesel engine. The petrol line-up consists of a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated motor which is capable of churning out 115 hp of power along with 144 Nm of peak torque. In addition to this, there is a 1.4-litre, turbocharged petrol engine on offer as well which is good for 140 hp of power along with 242 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre, turbocharged unit which is good for 115 hp of power along with 240 Nm of peak torque.

    All the engines available with the Kia Seltos are paired as standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 1.5-litre petrol also comes with an option of a CVT automatic gearbox. The 1.4-litre turbo petrol is also available with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine comes with a 6-speed torque converter automatic as well.

    The Kia Seltos comes with disc brakes up-front, as well as at the back. In terms of safety, this compact SUV comes with dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, driver and passenger seat belt warning along with high-speed alert system as standard across the range. Higher variants get side and curtain airbags. In terms of new features, the Kia Seltos now comes an ESS as standard, remote engine start for all automatic variants along with Voice Assist function commands as well as Indian holiday info on HTX, HTX+, GTX, and GTX+ variants.

    The 1.4-litre, turbo-petrol promises to offer a mileage of 16.2 kmpl. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine promises to offer a mileage of 16.4 kmpl. The 1.5-litre diesel engine promises to offer a fuel-efficiency figure of 20.8 kmpl for the manual and 17.8 kmpl for the automatic.
