The Hyundai Xcent measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,660 mm in width, 1,520 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,425 mm. It has a boot space of 407 litres and a fuel tank capacity of 43 litres for all versions. While a chrome radiator grille, rear chrome garnish and body colour bumpers are offered as standard in the Hyundai Xcent, the higher variants also get 14 inch steel wheels with full wheel covers, turn indicators on ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors), LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) and body coloured ORVMs. The top end trim gets a 15 inch diamond cut alloy wheels and chrome door handles.
The Hyundai Xcent is offered in a dual tone interior colour of dark grey and beige with a combination of blue and white illumination for the instrument cluster as well as the infotainment system. The higher versions which are available with the 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system also come with steering mounted audio controls with voice recognition. The infotainment unit supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Mirrorlink and Bluetooth connectivity. Higher versions also get automatic climate control while the lower variants get a manual air conditioner unit. That said, all trims expected the base E version are offered with rear AC vents in order to cool the cabin faster. A cooled glove box, front power windows, front power socket and internally adjustable ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) are standard across all variants of the Hyundai Xcent. The higher versions also get electrically adjustable as well as foldable ORVMs, rear power windows, tilt steering, height adjustable driver’s seat and push button start/stop.
Powering the Hyundai Xcent is one 1.2 litre petrol engine and one 1.2 litre diesel engine. The 1.2 litre Kappa petrol unit generates 82 hp of power at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The 1.2 litre U2 CRDi diesel engine produces 74 hp of power at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque from 1,750 rpm to 2,250 rpm.
Transmission options available in the Hyundai Xcent are a 5 speed manual gearbox and a 4 speed automatic unit. The 5 speed manual transmission is available on both, petrol and diesel engines, however, the 4 speed automatic is offered only with the petrol motor. Both transmissions along with the engines have been tuned for the best balance between performance and fuel efficiency.
All variants of the Hyundai Xcent are offered with dual front airbags as a standard fitment. The higher versions also get ABS (Anti lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), impact sensing door unlock, immobiliser, central locking and reverse parking sensors with rear view camera. These safety features are also acceptable when compared to other competitors in the compact sedan segment.
Claimed fuel efficiency of the petrol manual variants of the Hyundai Xcent is 20.14 kmpl while the automatic trim has a rated mileage of 17.36 kmpl. The diesel engine option available in the Hyundai Xcent has a claimed fuel efficiency of 25.4 kmpl. These figures are acceptable when compared to with other competitors in its segment.
