The BMW i8 is a hybrid sports car. It uses the BMW eDrive technology which uses the advantages of an electric motor and combustion engine technologies. The BMW i8 is very aerodynamic in nature and is build using intelligent lightweight construction with Carbon Fibre. It has two engines with one being BMW TwinPower Turbo 1.5L 3 Cylinder petrol engine and the other an electric engine. Standard features include LED headlights with LASERLIGHT and DRL’s, Scissor Doors and Ambient Light Design.

The BMW i8 takes styling to a completely new future proof level. It is made using aluminium composite carbon fibre and polycarbonate glass which gives the car a very sturdy and a light structure. The BMW i8 gets ambient light with mood lights, leather upholstered seat covers and leather finished instrument panel to add to the exquisite future quotient. It also gets Automatic air conditioning with 2-zone control with microfilter. The front seats are electrically adjustable for driver and co-passenger with lumbar support along with memory function. The car was launched with a lot of bells and whistles and lives to its reputation because it looks close to perfection. The multifunction M leather steering wheel carries gearshift paddles which provide hassle free gear shifting. Interior mirrors come with anti-dazzle function. There is also a start/stop button also with an electric steering column adjustment with memory function
BMW i8 comes with an electric motor with a capacity of 7.1kWh whereas the petrol engine is 1.5-litres in capacity. The motor comes paired with a 2 speed synchro switching steptronic transmission gearbox in the front whereas the twinpower turbo charging unit with the 1.5-litre petrol engine is housed at the rear end. Both the engines together can deliver a power of 357PS with a torque of 570Nm.
The BMW i8 is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission with Drivelogic. It delivers torque to the rear wheels resulting to a drive that’s beyond expectation
In terms of safety, it comes with DSC, CBC, ABS with brake assist and airbags. It also has an electronic vehicle immobiliser and crash sensor. It also comes with side-impact protection with runflat tyres with reinforced side walls.
The BMW i8 delivers a mileage output of 37kmpl whereas with the combination of petrol and electric motor delivers a mileage of nearly 47.45kmpl.
