Star City+ is a 110cc commuter motorcycle from TVS Motor. It is designed for people who are looking for a 100cc motorcycle with a little more power without sacrificing much of a fuel efficiency. The 110cc engine of Star City+ churns out 8.2 BHP (8.4 PS) of power and 8.7 NM of torque with a company claimed fuel economy of 86 kmpl. This is quite fantastic given the performance is on par with other 110cc motorcycles in this category. Features include an analogue plus digital speedometer, 5-step adjustable rear shockers, standard electric start and a service reminder.
Analogue plus digital speedometer.
5-step adjustable rear shockers.
Star City+ is one of TVS’s most successful motorcycles in the 100cc segment. The build quality is nice and the fit-n-finish of all parts is quite satisfactory. The design is pretty straightforward and comes with a hint of sophistication like a bikini fairing at the front, a smooth-looking fuel tank and equally streamlined tail section. The instrument panel is a combination of an analogue and a digital screen giving all the required information to the rider including the “service-reminder”.
The rider sits completely upright on the Star City+ with an easy reach to the handlebar. Foot-pegs are a bit forward-set as well for an overall easy riding stance for city riding. Handlebar switches are within easy reach as well and do not require any special attention from the rider in order to be operated. The suspension is basic but the rear shockers are 5-step adjustable giving some leverage to the rider to set them as per the load.
Star City+ is powered by a Eco-thrust engine which displaces at precisely 109.7cc and produces 8.2 BHP of power at 7,500 RPM and 8.7 NM of torque at 5,000 RPM. This provides competitive performance and fuel economy figures in its segment.
Star City+ comes with a 4-speed gearbox. The system is slick with generally smooth gear shifts and positive feedback throughout the operation.
Star City+ comes equipped wth drum brakes at both ends. At the front, there’s 130mm drum while the rear makes do with a 110mm one. While this setup helps keeps the price under control, it does its job fine within city limits.
Company claims a mileage of 87 kmpl from its Eco-thrust 109.7cc engine. This, combined with the 10 litres of fuel tank capacity, can provide an economy of over 800 km which is pretty good.
