Jupiter is a solid looking scooter from TVS Motor and one of their most successful ones. The design is simple and straightforward and it doesn’t come across as noisy. The styling is good enough to please various age groups, however, it could be a bit too basic looking for the younger crowd. The bodywork is clean and devoid of too much graphics. The front is mostly smooth with a pair of indicators and the headlight above it. The rear has a LED tail light for better visibility. The overall build quality and fit-n-finish are good and satisfactory.
The rider sits upright like on any other scooter with an easy reach to the handlebar. The floorboard offers good space to rest both feet and the seat is long and wide as well giving the rider some leverage to move around. The front suspension is comprised of telescopic forks that do a decent job to tackle the irregularities of the road. The rear gas charged shocker further improves the damping characteristic of the suspension.
The engine precisely displaces at 109.7cc and produces 7.8 BHP of power at 7,500 RPM and 8 NM of torque at 5,500 RPM. It features TVS’s renowned CVTi technology which allows the engine to produce the best possible combination of mileage and performance at all speeds.
The transmission is gearless for complete ease of use in city riding. The throttle response is smooth and there are no hiccups anywhere in the rev-range.
Jupiter comes with 130mm drum brakes at both ends that do a fine job of slowing down and bringing the scooter down to a stop under a variety of riding conditions. Also, tubeless tyres on 12-inch wheels offer good stability and do not deflate instantly in case of a puncture.
TVS Motor claims a mileage of 62 kmpl which is best-in-class. With careful riding and with 5 litres of fuel tank capacity, one can expect a range of around 300 km in one full tank.
