  • Indian Chief Design and Build

    Indian Chief

The Chief Classic is a big and burly cruiser made to conquer long and unwinding highways. It is an exceptionally well-built motorcycle with the fit-n-finish and the paint quality good enough to make it appear like a royalty. Everything about the Chief Classic is big and bold – right from the round headlamp cluster, fat front forks, wide handlebar, through the big fuel tank and to the curvy tail section. Each and every part comes together beautifully to form one streamlined design. While a cruiser is hardly aerodynamic, the smoothness of the overall styling makes it look like it will glide through the air like anything. The instrument panel displays a plethora of information including something as vital as the tire pressure.

  • Indian Chief Riding Ergonomics

    Indian Chief

The Chief Classic is one of the most comfortable cruisers in the market. The rider sits upright, in a laid-back style, like on a sofa on a wide seat holding a chromed, wide handlebar with both feet resting on a big footboard. Everything is made to pamper the rider. The suspension is supple in the city gracefully gulping the oddities of the road while it provides a very stable ride on the highways. Handlebar controls remain within easy reach as well without requiring the rider to divert his attention.

  • Indian Chief Engine

    Indian Chief

The Chief Classic sports one of the biggest V-twin engines among all production motorcycles today. It is what Indian calls the ThunderStroke motor displacing an astonishing 1811cc from its two cylinders producing a respectable 73 BHP of power at 5,075 RPM and 138.9 NM of torque at 2,600 RPM. Along with the close-loop fuel injection system, this ensures smooth power delivery at all speeds with zero stress on the engine. Other than this, the engine has multi-directional finned valve covers, downward firing exhaust, asymmetric fin styling and long push-rod tubes.

  • Indian Chief Transmission

    Indian Chief

A big-bore cruiser requires a gearbox that can do justice to all the massive power that is in store. The Chief Classic comes with a 6-speed manual transmission which allows for effortless cruising on highways at triple-digit speeds. Gear ratios are well-spaced and the power delivery through the gears is so effortless that it feels like the motorcycle is going slower than it is. The clutch is relatively light as well with positive feel assisting in gear-shifts giving a solid feedback to the rider.

  • Indian Chief Braking and Safety

An effective braking system is required to slow and bring down over 250 kg of bulk to a safe stop under different conditions. For this, the Chief Classic comes with 300mm dual disc brakes at the front with 4-piston callipers and a single 300mm disc at the rear with 2-piston callipers. Of course, ABS is standard.

  • Indian Chief Mileage

With a generous 20.8 litres of fuel tank capacity, the Chief Classic ensures long riding sessions with fewer stops at the fuel pumps.
