  • Ducati Hypermotard 939 Design and Build

    Ducati Hypermotard 939

Hypermotard is possibly the most playful motorcycle from Ducati. Its design and dimensions are more towards the dirtbike category and encourage the rider to ride in a spirited manner. Given its intent, the design is quite minimalistic with an ultra compact frontend sporting a beak. The fuel tank has generous extensions at both sides and appears quite small but it holds 16 litres of fuel. The tail section is again tightly packed to complement the front. The side-mounted is exhaust is beefy and the single-sided swing-arm increases the oomph factor in the overall styling. The instrument is LCD with a “DOT-Matrix” section.

  • Ducati Hypermotard 939 Riding Ergonomics

    Ducati Hypermotard 939

The rider sits completely upright on an almost flat with the handlebar quite close to the body. The foot-pegs are rear-set and the whole stance is similar to how a person would sit on a dirtbike. It is a commanding position and with a tall seat height, the rider gets a very good view of the road ahead. The suspension is a generous 6.7 and 5.9 inches front and back respectively which adds to the damping and comfort while riding. Handlebar switches are also within easy reach.

  • Ducati Hypermotard 939 Engine

    Ducati Hypermotard 939

Hypermotard is not devoid of power as it comes with a pretty huge 937cc L-twin engine churning out 111.4 BHP of power at 9,000 RPM and 97.9 NM of torque at 7,500 RPM. This means plenty of power for city riding and highways. What’s more, there are three riding modes - urban, touring and sport – that increase the flexibility of the power output depending on the riding conditions. Also, the Ride by Wire system maintains a smooth throttle operation throughout the rev-range.

  • Ducati Hypermotard 939 Transmission

    Ducati Hypermotard 939

Hypermotard comes with a 6-speed gearbox to play with all those horses available on tap. The shifting mechanism is smooth and gives good feedback during changes. The slipper clutch keeps the clutch pull light and prevents the rear wheel from momentarily locking up during aggressive down-shifts.

  • Ducati Hypermotard 939 Braking and Safety

Hypermotard shares its braking system from the Monster 821 with a pair 320mm dual discs up front worked by M4 32 monobloc 4-piston callipers. At the back, there’s a single 245mm disc with a 2-piston calliper. Bosch’s latest 9MP ABS is always there to keep things under control as it prevents wheel lockup under hard braking.

  • Ducati Hypermotard 939 Mileage

With Ride by Wire for smooth throttle, fuel injection and a good 16 litres fuel tank, Hypermotard is poised to deliver long riding sessions with fewer fuel stops.
