Benelli Imperiale 400 is the retro classic and the most affordable motorcycle by the Italian bike maker for India. The motorcycle directly targets the Royal Enfield territory and was launched just before Diwali 2019. The Imperiale looks like a traditional retro classic bike as it gets a rounded headlamp up front, a long rear fender, wired wheels and an old school type fuel tank. Powering the Benelli Imperiale 400 is a 374cc, single cylinder, air cooled engine mated to a five speed transmission, that is good for developing 21hp of power and 29Nm of torque. Benelli Imperiale 400 BS6 is now available in India for a starting price of Rs 1.99 lakh. The  bike is available in three colour options with the Silver shade costing the least. On the other hand, the Black and Red colours will cost you Rs 2,10,900 (all prices, ex-showroom). Benelli Imperiale 400 goes up against the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Jawa Classic in the segment.

      The Benelli Imperiale 400 looks like a proper retro classic motorcycle and no less than what you would have expected it to be. The front end of the bike gets a rounded headlamp and bits like curvy fuel tank with rubber pads, long rear fender and dual classic styled seats do their part well in maintaining the old school appeal. The fit and finish and the quality of material used on this motorcycle is top notch and the attention to detail is decent too.

The engine is good for shedding out respective power and torque outputs of 21hp and 29Nm. While the power is higher than the Classic 350, the figure is significantly lower than the Jawa that gets a liquid-cooled engine.

      The gearbox on the Benelli Imperiale 400 is a five-speed that has a one-down, four-up shifting pattern. The gear position can be seen on the gear position display on the instrument cluster.

      Braking on the Benelli Imperiale 400 is taken care of with the help of a 300mm disc brake up front along with a 240mm disc brake at the rear. A dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) comes as standard with the bike for added safety and better & more effective braking. As for safety, the Imperiale 400 also gets hazard lamps.
