The all-new Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door SUV made its global debut in India at the Auto Expo 2023. Bookings for the same are now open and its prices are likely to be announced in May this year.

The 5-door version of the Jimny will be made in India at the company’s Gurugram manufacturing facility and will be even exported to other global markets. It will directly rival the Mahindra Thar in the Indian market.

In terms of dimensions, the Jimny 5-door SUV measures 3,985 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width and 1,720 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,590 mm.

Maruti Suzuki is offering the Jimny in six colour shades. They are: Kinetic Yellow, Sizzling Red, Bluish Black, Granite Gray, Nexa Blue and Pearl Arctic White.

The Jimny is based on a ladder frame chassis. It gets 15-inch alloy wheels and offers a massive ground clearance of 210 mm.

Being a proper off-roader, the Jimny gets body cladding all around. The SUV features an all-LED lighting system and there are headlamp washers as well.

In terms of features, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny gets a 9.0-inch Smartplay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Arkamys speakers, etc.

Powering the new Jimny 5-door SUV is a 1.5-litre K-series naturally-aspirated petrol engine that develops 103 bhp and 134 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed AT with AllGrip Pro 4X4 system for superior off-road capabilities.

The safety features of the Jimny include six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill hold control, hill descent control, reverse parking sensors with camera and many more.

Along with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door, the company also unveiled the Fronx. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a sub-compact SUV that is based on the Baleno. Bookings for both these SUVs are now open officially.
