The all-new 2023 Toyota Hilux is on sale in India for a starting price of Rs 30.40 lakh, ex-showroom. We recently drove the Hilux at Rajaji National Park in Uttarakhand to test this indestructible pick-up truck’s off-roading capabilities.

Powering the Toyota Hilux is a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that churns out 201 bhp and 420 Nm of torque in manual variants but a whopping 500 Nm of peak torque in the automatic variants.

Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque-converter AT with 4X4 as standard fitment across all the variants.

In terms of features, the Hilux gets all-LED headlamps, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity, six speakers, etc.

The safety equipment of the Hilux includes seven airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, hill assist control, etc. Toyota is offering a 3-year or 1,00,000 km standard warranty on the Hilux.

Toyota is offering the Hilux in three variants: Standard MT, High MT and High AT. Its prices range from Rs 30.40 lakh to Rs 37.90 lakh, ex-showroom. The Hilux doesn’t have any direct rivals in India. Indirectly, it competes against the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
